The LG Ultra HD TV is the first 4K television to hit the Australian market. It features four times the resolution of Full HD at 3840 x 2160, Triple XD Engine, TruMotion 200Hz, Dual Core Processor, Resolution Upscaler Plus and Cinema 3D.
At just under $16,000 the 84LM9600 is a significant investment for a TV, but we can safely say it is definitely worth it if you want the best picture quality around.
In our test we watched a variety of content including DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, video games and 4K content from a PC.
DVD content wasn’t amazing, but it was still passable. HD Blu-ray content looked fantastic thanks to the upscaling technology, but it was 3D that really stood out. We watched a few scenes from Toy Story 3 and have to say it is the best 3D we have ever seen on a TV. Thanks to the high resolution and huge screen, images had an immense amount of depth.
But obviously 4K content is the real test. Without question it is amazing to watch, images are crystal clear, motion was smooth and there is almost no visible pixelation.
But the problem is availability of content. Currently there is only a limited amount of 4K content and no dedicated players. But even so, this is still our pick as the best TV on the market.
